About the Pingelly Somerset Alliance Inc (PSA)

The PSA is a volunteer run organisation that oversees the provision of community housing for the aged in Pingelly. It is an incorporated body which has evolved from the amalgamation of Pingelly Cottage Homes and Pingelly Aged Care Facility (Somerset House). Pingelly Cottage Homes was started in 1978 with the aim of ensuring that people did not need to leave Pingelly when they were too frail to live alone. Pingelly Aged Care Facility commenced in June 2015 and amalgamated with the Pingelly Cottage Homes in November 2016. This created the current Pingelly Somerset Alliance.

The alliance was formed to create an aged focused organisation in Pingelly, which would enable it to have input and an impact on aged care decisions and accommodation options in Pingelly.

It is also noted that there is land in place for further ‘Pingelly Age Appropriate Accommodation’ units but no funding is yet secured to construct the units. In 2021, PSA will be considering funding additional units onto this land similar to the existing units, which were completed in 2018. PSA would use their own funding and potentially partner with the Department of Housing on this project. PSA also have vacant land but may consider selling this to assist in funding the units to be built on the Shire land, which is better situated and more shovel-ready than the PSA land.
